Our Fraternity had reached every region of the American continent by 1910. Chi Omega chapters spread across the nation in less than 15 years, from Maine to California, Oregon to Florida, Texas to Illinois. Members of other chapters sent letters of welcome and congratulations whenever a new chapter was established and wore Chi Omega’s colors under their lapel buttons.

Chi Omega Foundation’s premise
Our Background
Chi Omega, which was established in 1895 at the University of Arkansas, has over 394,000 initiates, 181 collegiate chapters, and 248 alumnae chapters, making it the largest women’s fraternal organization in the world. Chi Omega has provided its members with unparalleled possibilities for personal growth and development throughout its lengthy and illustrious history.
Alumni, collegiate members, and friends of Chi Omega can donate money to the Fraternity’s educational and leadership programs for all members through the Chi Omega Foundation, which is tax-deductible. Contributions to the Foundation give the Fraternity’s membership the edge of excellence needed to deliver scholarships, grants, educational and leadership programs, as well as tools and resources, that can change people’s lives.
The Helping Hands Fund For Undergrad Financial Assistance
In order to ensure that financial hardship and barriers to membership are recognized, supported, and addressed, Chi Omega has established an Undergraduate Support Fund in collaboration with the Special Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and in response to the 2020–2022 Governing Council’s recommendations.
Applications for the Helping Hands Fund for Undergraduate Support are no longer being accepted due to the enormous response. On January 23, 2023, the Foundation will reopen the grant application.
Mission Proclamation
Chi Omega is a multigenerational women’s group that has remained steadfastly dedicated to its original goals:
• Friendship
• Individual Integrity
• Assistance to Others
• Academic Prowess and Intellectual Interests
· Engagement with the community and campus
• Professional and personal growth
Chromatic Symphony
To be in the best sense of democratic rather than “exclusive,” and lovable rather than “popular”; to work diligently, to speak kindly, to act sincerely, to choose thoughtfully that course which occasion and conscience demand; to be womanly always; to be discouraged never; in short, to be loyal under any and all circumstances to my Fraternity.
-Ethel Switzer Howard published Xi Chapter in 1904
Our Objectives
The six purposes of Chi Omega are important to our Sisters. Each Chi Omega member is guided by these goals, which include the following:
• Friendship
• High Personnel Standards
• Credible scholarship and genuine learning
• Attendance at campus events
• Development of Career
• Volunteer work
One cannot express the importance of “personal responsibility” enough. The decisions and deeds of each member have an impact on the whole chapter and our national organization.

We are able to fully enjoy one another as Sisters and friends when we embrace Chi Omega’s six purposes and put our principles at the core of our words, thoughts, and deeds.
“However lofty Chi Omega’s goals may be, they can only be achieved to the extent that each member is capable. The degree of each person’s resourcefulness is inversely correlated with their intelligence-driven, strong will to succeed.
– Mary Love Collins, National President of Chi Omega from 1910 until 1952
