Delegates from each affiliated union in Massachusetts are represented at the convention in proportion to the average member of the union. There is one vote per delegate. The president, secretary-treasurer, five executive vice presidents—one from the public sector, one from the industrial and service sector, one from the building trades, and two at large—as well as 55 vice presidents—are chosen by convention delegates every four years. Vice Presidents are chosen from among the Principal Officers of the ten Central Labor Councils. Six vice presidents also come from AFL-CIO constituent organizations that have charters. The Executive Council of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO is made up of 72 Vice Presidents in total.
