SCHOLARSHIP SPONSOR
CHARLES B. KEESEE EDUCATIONAL FUND’S ESTABLISHMENT
An ambitious young man from Caswell County, North Carolina, who was born and raised, traveled to Martinsville, Virginia, in 1893 to pursue his fortune. Charles B. Keesee was that young person. Mr. Keesee wed Miss Olivia Helms Simmons of Floyd, Virginia, in 1896. Having no children of their own, they wanted to support deserving young people in attending Baptist educational institutions. After Mr. Keesee’s passing in 1940, the Charles B. Keesee Educational Fund was created in 1941 as per the instructions he left in his will. Mrs. Keesee shared her husband’s passion for encouraging youth to pursue higher education possibilities. The Charles B. Keesee Educational Fund, Inc. received the majority of her inheritance when she passed away in 1944. The Fund has helped thousands of eligible students with their educational expenditures ever since it was established.
