About The Scholarship
Applications from qualified candidates are being accepted for the HeART of the Basin Scholarships at Central Queensland University in Australia for the academic years 2022–2023.
Both domestic and foreign students may submit an application for this program. All Postgraduate level programs in the fields of All Subjects taught at Central Queensland University are permitted by the scholarship.
As of the deadline, interested candidates may submit an application for the scholarship.

The Heart of the Basin Scholarship, which will enter its sixth year in 2022, is given to a research student at CQUniversity who is pursuing an Honours, Masters by Research, or PhD and wants to advance their knowledge of a subject related to bettering the health of waterways and/or understanding and using waterways in the Fitzroy Basin.
Promoter Value
The qualified students will receive a $3,000 grant from Central Queensland University.
Eligibility
A candidate must fulfill the requirements listed below in order to be considered for the HeART of the Basin Scholarship:
• Be enrolled at CQUniversity in an Honours, Masters by Research, or PhD program in a relevant research subject. Research areas that are relevant include:
- Agriculture
- Buildings And Environment
- Economics
- Engineering
- Science of the Environment
• Attend classes at the Rockhampton campus or online
• Commit time throughout the course of the scholarship’s 12-month duration to a pre-determined area of research that will advance knowledge of and usage of Fitzroy Basin waterways and/or waterway health.
• Be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia.
• Not have been awarded a CQUniversity Scholarship of equal or greater value.
In a written statement of no more than 750 words, applicants must describe the planned waterway study topic and their professional goals.
Additionally, applicants will have to supply:
• Demonstration of the capacity to set and meet both professional and personal goals;
• Details regarding the academic background and professional experience (resume and academic transcript);
• A letter of support from the project supervisor at CQUniversity they’re considering.
• A promise to acknowledge Fitzroy Partnership for River Health in all future papers and presentations referencing the water research, to make themselves available to speak at pertinent water and research events, and to grant permission for their photos and images to be used on Fitzroy Partnership for River Health merchandise.
Application Method
The chosen candidate will be chosen by a section panel made up of representatives from the Fitzroy Partnership for River Health.
The competition for scholarships at CQUniversity is fierce. Each application is given a ranking based on how well it satisfies the requirements and in relation to other applications.
A successful application is not always guaranteed, even if you are qualified or have previously been a recipient.
A scholarship will only be given out when there is a qualified applicant. All applicants are now informed that their designated email address will be used to communicate any requests for additional information supporting their applications.
Any additional information required will need to be submitted again by the students. The application will be deemed incomplete and not taken into consideration if additional information is not provided.
Since Fitzroy Partnership for River Health receives applications directly, the Scholarships and Financial Assistance Team is unable to give students updates on the status of their individual applications until all assessments have been finished. Only student email accounts will be used to inform applicants of the results of their applications. All judgments are final.

Recipients’ Expectations
Throughout the duration of the scholarship, you must spend time working on a pre-determined research project with a focus on “advancing waterway health and/or understanding the use of waterways in the Fitzroy Basin.”
You must promise to credit Fitzroy Partnership for River Health in any upcoming papers or presentations that mention water research, be available to speak whenever possible at events related to water or research, and consent to having your picture or image used on Fitzroy Partnership for River Health merchandise.
You will also be requested to take part in a survey on your experience as a scholarship recipient.
