Marvy Finger has been in the real estate industry for more than 60 years. He is well-known for both his professional accomplishments and his charitable work in Houston’s civic, medical, and educational institutions.
Houston native Mr. Finger, who earned his degree from the University of Texas in 1957, is passionate about giving motivated students the chance to pursue further education and employment.
About The Scholarship
The Marvy Finger Family Foundation Scholarship is intended to assist students who have financial needs in pursuing a two-year program of career and technical education. Our objective is to award full scholarships to eligible students who wish to acquire the information and skills necessary for high-paying, quickly expanding careers.
For qualified applicants, the Marvy Finger Family Foundation Scholarships are offered.
They are graduating seniors from Houston ISD who want to pursue a career in technical education. Two academic years of tuition, fees, books, and program supplies at a community college in the Houston area and San Jacinto College are covered by the scholarship.
Eligibility
Scholarships will be given out in accordance with the applicant’s financial needs, grades, extracurricular activities, and commitment to a career and technical program. Personal interviews are required of finalists. Students who want to participate must:
• Be an American citizen or authorized permanent resident.
• Attend HISD School
• Be eligible for free or reduced-priced lunch or have a low socioeconomic status as defined by the federal government.
• Have earned a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.5 or 3.0 for all Health Science programs.
• Fill out the FAFSA form and submit the SAR (Student Aid Report).
Requirements
Recipients of this scholarship are required to:
• Enroll at Houston Community College or San Jacinto College in a two-year workforce certificate or associate’s degree program that has been approved.
• Put this scholarship toward any program-approved educational costs (excluding transportation, food, and housing)
• Finish the recognized degree- or certificate-granting program within two years after acceptance.
• At the conclusion of each semester, turn in a copy of your unofficial transcript.
• When registering for classes each semester, submit a copy of your student account summary.
• If a program of study is terminated before a degree or certificate is earned, return to the foundation all items that cost $200 or more.
• Adhere to all requirements stated on the scholarship application.
