About The Scholarship
The Australia Awards scholarship is open to undergraduate students.
People from developing countries, particularly those in the Indo-Pacific region, are given the chance to pursue full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions through Australia Awards Scholarships, formerly known as Australian Development Scholarships (ADS).

Training in fields connected to flying aircraft, nuclear technologies, or military training is not eligible for Australia Awards.

Total tuition fees, round-trip airfare, an establishment allowance, a contribution toward living expenses (CLE), Overseas Student Health Coverage (OSHC), an introductory academic program (IAP), and pre-course English (PCE) fees, among other benefits, are typically included in the benefits of scholarships. The scholarships are provided for the least amount of time required for the recipient to finish the academic program, including any relevant prerequisite training, as stipulated by the Australian higher education institution.
Eligibility
In order to qualify for a Scholarship, applicants must:
1. Be at least 18 years old on February 1 of the year the scholarship begins;
2. Reside in and apply for the scholarship from a country of citizenship that is recognized as a participant country on the Australia Awards website;
3. Not be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or be requesting a visa to settle permanently in Australia;
4. Not, at any time during the application, selection, or mobilization phases, be married to, engaged to, or a de facto of a person who possesses, or is eligible to own, Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency (note: Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau residents with New Zealand citizenship are eligible, but must apply for a Student visa [subclass 500]);
5. Not currently serving in the military;
6. not have received a long-term Australia Award before unless they have lived abroad for twice as long as they spent in Australia (for instance, a previous awardee who has been in Australia on an Australia Awards Scholarship for four years will not be qualified to apply for another Australia Awards Scholarship until they have lived abroad for eight years);
7. not have convictions for crimes, particularly those involving child protection and PSEAH, anywhere, including in their own nation;
8. Candidates for a long-term Australia Award who finished their secondary education in Australia the year before are eligible under the Pacific Secondary School Scholarship Program (PSSSP);
9. Candidate must Have met any requirements set forth by the Program Area or the government of the applicant’s country of citizenship, such as having worked in a suitable position for a specified number of years.
10. Be able to meet the university’s admission standards where the award is to be used. If the award recipient cannot meet the institution’s admission requirements, Program Areas may need to withdraw their award offer. Program Areas may not request a placement at particular institutions until this is known);
11. Possess a student visa and be able to meet all requirements of the Department of Home Affairs. If the recipient cannot obtain a visa, it may be necessary for the Program Area to withdraw an award offer;
12. Not apply for a scholarship for a course of study at a level of academic achievement lower than already attained (such as applying for a Master’s scholarship when they already hold a PhD);
13. Applicants must disclose to the Program Area any connections or relationships they may have with employees of the Program Areas (including locally hired workers at the post) or with managing contractors in order for the Program Area to take appropriate action.
