THE CTCL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Numerous students and families have benefited from a CTCL experience and have undergone “changes” that were unexpected but gratefully accepted. In order to help even more students participate in CTCL, the Board of Directors established the CTCL Scholarship Fund to mark the 20th anniversary of Colleges That Change Lives and the 10th anniversary of the non-profit CTCL.

SCHOLARSHIP SPONSOR

CTCL FOUNDATION

Since its initial release in 1996, four updates of Colleges That Change Lives have been released, each of which provides insightful information about the college search and profiles of 44 small, residential liberal arts colleges that annually provide thousands of students with a high-quality education. The Colleges That Change Lives organization, a nonprofit, is committed to upholding the author’s message, and this scholarship is one more method to make sure that even more students may experience CTCL for themselves.

The tragic and senseless killings of Black people in our nation over the ages, but most recently those of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, show that there is still much work to be done and that not every Black life is currently important. Every Black life must now matter, and it is our duty as educators to seek out justice, teach about it, denounce injustice, and guide our students and colleagues toward that future.

The Board of Directors of Colleges That Change Lives is of the opinion that change comes about via education. Even though everyone may experience change differently, given the way things are now in our nation, change is long overdue. We all have a responsibility and a part to play in the ongoing transformation that is necessary for the present.

We beg students and educators to speak up against injustice and to start leading the change right once, both inside our organization and across the nation. Reading, learning, viewing films and listening to podcasts, voting, giving, peacefully protesting, listening, and communicating are all possible ways to affect change. Whatever you do, please take action since mere words are insufficient. You might even save or transform someone’s life.

WE SUPPORT THE BLACK COMMUNITY’S CALL FOR JUSTICE BECAUSE WE SHARE THAT DEMAND

Many of us who work in education turn to books when we are confused, wounded, or want to learn more about difficult topics. As we collaborate to heal, develop, and eradicate systematic racism in our nation, think of these recommended books and materials as opportunities to educate yourself so that you can be a more knowledgeable and understanding colleague, citizen, and person in general.

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

Colleges That Change Lives has launched a scholarship for students who enroll at a CTCL-member college or university in recognition of the first edition of Loren Pope’s famous book’s 20th year of publication and the non-profit group’s 10-year anniversary. In 2016, the initial prizes were presented.

REGARDING THE BOOK

Advert

Since its initial publication in 1996, the book Colleges That Change Lives has appeared in four different editions, each of which includes profiles of 40 small, residential liberal arts colleges that annually provide thousands of students with high-quality liberal arts educations. The idea that the college search should be a student-centered process that enables each student to select the college that is the best fit for them has been preserved and promoted for more than ten years by Colleges That Change Lives, Inc., a non-profit, charitable 501(c)(3) organization.
