The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), a federal government agency tasked with creating indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the demands of the oil and gas industry, is now accepting applications from qualified individuals for its overseas MSc and PhD scholarships for the 2023 academic year.
About The Scholarship
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) scholarship program was created to give applicants the chance to take use of a diverse body of knowledge and the resources provided by top schools throughout the world. It calls for candidates to submit PTDF applications for particular programs at the partner institutions. Flight tickets, health insurance, payment of tuition and bench fees (where applicable), and allowances to cover the costs of housing and living expenses are all included in the prize.

Applications for the 2023 award will only be accepted from PTDF partner universities in Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, where it believes the high standards of the scholarship can be upheld and the goals of the program may be best achieved.

Process, standards, and requirements for selection
Only applicants who are exceptional in every way are chosen for PTDF scholarships since the application process is extremely competitive.
The most qualified candidates from each state will be called to an interview based on their qualifications, and a committee will be formed to evaluate applications based on the following standards:
• Academic merit as demonstrated by the caliber of degrees, complete academic records, and other professional qualifications attained; • Relevant publications to be cited by the candidate (PhD applicants only)

Requirements
A. MSc
1. A first-degree qualification of Second Class Upper (2.1) or Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant work experience
2. Completion of the required National Youth Service (NYSC)
3. Must be familiar with computers
4. Possession of five O/level credits, including math and English.
5. Statement of intent (maximum 500 words) describing the rationale(s) behind the proposed study, its applicability to the sector, and its anticipated influence on national development.
6. Prior to submitting an application for the scholarship, candidates must have a National Identity Number (NIN). Please be aware that before submitting an application, applicants must confirm their NIN (NIMC verification charges apply).

B. PhD
1. Completed the required National Youth Service (NYSC)
2. Must be familiar with computers
3. A solid second-degree certificate and the first-degree average of at least Second Class Lower (2.2).
4. A five-page or less study proposal that is pertinent to the oil and gas sector and includes the following information: topic, introduction, objective, methodology, and method of data gathering
5. All lecturers must present a letter from their vice-chancellor attesting that they do not hold any additional scholarships.
6. Prior to submitting an application for the scholarship, candidates must have a National Identity Number (NIN). Please be aware that before submitting an application, applicants must confirm their NIN (NIMC verification charges apply).
Essential Documents
It is recommended that applicants scan and upload the following documents to their online application forms:
1. A statement of results or first-degree certificate
NYSC discharge certificate, second
3. Results from WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO exams, as well as PINs on application forms that allow PTDF to access O’level results on the pertinent website.
4. A current passport photo
5. Letter of Identification from Local Government
6. A certificate of master’s degree (PhD Applicants only)
7. Proof of professional association membership
All applicants are urged to prepare their transcripts for submission in anticipation of such a request since only those who pass the first round of screening will be asked to submit them.
